7 Secret Fat Loss Tips

It is common knowledge that eating fewer calories than you are burning off will result in at least temporary fat loss. Here are some simple, yet practical tips and ideas to help you win the fat loss battle.

1. Get more exercise. Cardio is aerobic and burns fat.  Weight training is anaerobic and burns carbohydrates. Weight training increases your lean body mass – aerobic training does not. Low calorie dieting and aerobic training without weight lifting can make you lose lean body mass and makes your body appear soft. If you lose lean body mass, your metabolism slows down, and this makes it harder to lose fat.

2. Stay away from fad diets.  All diets restrict calories, resulting in weight loss temporarily.  A diet is a short term solution. You should think in terms of a “healthy life style change”. Eating healthy everyday and getting exercise to keep fit.

3. You must have will power. Easier said then done, but you have to really want to lose the weight or you will never last more than a couple of days. It has to become a burning desire and that feeling will propel you towards your fat loss goals.

4. Keep a food diary. Research shows that this does help in losing weight. People see what they have been putting into their bellies each day and now realize how much they were eating. It also makes you accountable because it is all there written on paper.

5. Make small, but gradual changes. It is hard if not impossible to change your life style over night. Try picking 3 changes that will support you healthy life style. What you pick is up to you and will depend on your goals and preferences. When those 3 changes become habit, pick another 3 changes.
